Malawi Holidays
Malawi is situated in southeast Africa and is bordered by Zambia, separated from Tanzania and Mozambique by Lake Malawi. Derived from the Maravi meaning 'reflected light' or 'bright haze', Malawi is a beautiful and relatively unexplored wilderness. Over the centuries Malawi has attracted a wide diversity of immigrants and cultures, resulting in a country of the most charming and friendly people.
Covering one fifth of the country, Lake Malawi is more like an inland sea with inviting long sweeping beaches and crystal clear blue waters with an incredible variety of colourful fish, while the parks surrounding it support large numbers of exotic wildlife and bird species.
Nyika National Park, situated on an extensive plateau in the north has wonderful views of rolling hills, evergreen forests and cascading waterfalls. With over 200 species, it is the richest orchid area in Central Africa and the plateau boasts the highest concentration of roan antelope. In the south, on the banks of the Shire River lies Liwonde National Park, which, with its varied habitat, is considered to be one of the finest areas for bird watching in Southern Africa.
