Macatoo Camp
Macatoo Camp is set is a truly spectacular area of the Okavango delta wilderness. The camp also offers an extra special aspect as it is the venue for African Horseback Safaris. The four hundred or more resident species of wildlife and sheer beauty and diversity of the area make it an ideal location for this magnificent activity. The main attraction of the camp is the opportunity to ride in the wild with the deltas’ own magnificent array of wildlife including giraffes, lechwe and vast array of birdlife.
The camp itself has large, comfortable walk-in style tents. Each of the secluded tents has two twin beds, their own en suite shower and toilet along with a spacious verandah and armchairs overlooking the flood plain dotted with palm trees. The main facilities at the camp include a large furnished mess tent and a private swimming pool, tucked away to allow complete seclusion in the midst of the wilderness. Macatoo Camp provides a classic Hemingway-style camp with every comfort, yet still allowing the opportunity to experience the wild beauty of the African bush.
The horses at African Horseback Safaris are a variety of Thoroughbreds, Namibian Hanovarians, Arabs and Kalahari-Arab crosses, ranging from 14-16.2 hands (140-165cm). In addition to horseback safaris additional activities including game drives, bird walks, night drives, seasonal boating, canoeing and fishing can also be arranged. On the longer safaris there is also the opportunity to experience the thrill of riding out to a mobile fly-camp.
