Abu Camp
Abu Camp is situated in a four hundred thousand acre private reserve in the heart the Okavango Delta. The main focal point of the camp itself is undoubtedly the African elephants, and the chance to view the delta’s superb array of wildlife from the backs of these magnificent animals. The elephants make the perfect 'vehicles' for the surroundings, as they are able to cope with the terrain much better than standard 4x4 vehicles. They also have the added benefit of being seen as a familiar feature to Africa's various wild species, allowing close up game viewing.
The camp has six luxurious custom built tents that are located under a shady canopy in an ancient riverine forest. All of the tents have a unique and wonderful design with a beautiful en suite bathroom consisting of a shower and a bath. Each of the tents has the added luxury of private viewing tree-shaded decks with hammocks overlooking a lagoon frequented by a myriad of bird and animal life. The camp also offers the ultimate in bush luxury and exclusivity: the Elephant Villa is situated across from the lagoon and can accommodate a couple for a special romantic honeymoon retreat or a family with children. The main facilities at the camp include the dining and bar areas, on raised wooden decks that wind around African ebony and sycamore fig trees. The lounge and dining tent has stunning large sofas, offering breathtaking views over the lagoon and featuring a well-stocked library and study. The camp offers five-star cuisine prepared by the expert safari chefs.
Abu Camp offers game drives, night drives, walks and makoro (dugout canoe) safaris, as well as the most intimate elephant learning experience in Africa. During your stay at Abu Camp, on your elephant back safari, you will be seated in large padded saddles which are mounted behind the most experienced and knowledgeable elephant-handlers in Africa.
